BG Group FPSO starts operations in Santos Basin

BG Group has announced first oil from the Cidade de Itaguaí FPSO vessel, the group’s sixth in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil.

The FPSO is anchored 240 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro and will produce from the Iracema North area of the Lula field in the Petrobras BM-S-11 block.

Cidade de Itaguaí is the second leased FPSO to be deployed to Iracema, doubling gross production capacity to 300 thousand barrels of oil per day and 16 million cu m of natural gas per day. The FPSO will also be able to store up to 1.6 million barrels of oil.

BG Group also has a 25% interest in the block, while Petrobras has 65% and Petroga Brasil 10%.
