BMZ Group buys more secondhand products tankers

Istanbul: Turkey’s BMZ Group is planning to spend around $180m on up to 10 products tankers.

BMZ has just paid $18m for the Malta-flagged newbuilding Begim Aslanova (7,150 dwt, built 2015), a small CPP tanker ordered in 2013 and built at Turkey’s Yardimci Deniz yard, according to Turkish media reports.

Bilal Erdogan, son of the Turkish president, heads up the Istanbul-based group with his two uncles, Ziya Ilgen and Mustafa Erdogan, as his partners.

In July 2014, the group acquired the Mecid Aslanov (7,150 dwt, built 2014) from the Palmali group for $35m, reports say.
