Boskalis heads to IHC Merwede for new mega cutter

Royal Boskalis Westminster has placed a new order at IHC Merwede for a self-propelled mega cutter.

The new vessel, a sister vessel of the Helios, will have a total installed power of 23,700 kW, a pumping capacity of 15,600 kW and a maximum cutter capacity of 7,000 kW. It will be capable of dredging hard ground at depths ranging of 6 to 35 metres.

The vessel is scheduled for delivery by 2020.

Grant spent nine years at Informa Group based in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. He gained strong management experience in publishing, conferences and awards schemes in the shipping and legal areas, working on a number of titles including Lloyd's List.
