Busy Union Maritime offloads a tanker

S&P activity is picking up this month with brokers reporting a string of deals.

Laurent Cadji-led outfit Union Maritime has sold the five-year-old, 50,000 dwt, Hyundai Mipo-built tanker, Avon, to an undisclosed account for $45.5m.

Last week, the UK bulker and tanker player made the headlines for shaking hands with Hong Kong-listed Seacon Shipping, putting out a release that it had added the two-year-old 34,827 dwt, Fujian Mawei-built Golden Lavender for $36m.

This active owner is also busy ordering ships. At the end of March, it increased its tanker orderbook, signing up for four more 18,500 dwt chemical tankers and a pair of 49,000 dwt MR2 vessels at Wuhu Shipyard worth about $210m in total.
