HCI Capital becomes Ernst Russ

HCI Capital has decided to change its name to Ernst Russ AG to reflect a shift in the company’s focus.

The investor wishes to position itself more as an asset and investment manager “with a maritime focus” and increase its maritime services business, rather than simply raising and managing funds, as it has done since it was established in 1985.

HCI Capital bought a majority stake in German shipping group Ernst Russ in April, which increased the fleet managed by HCI from 40 to 51 vessels.
