Doha: Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM) recently hosted a visit by officials from the American Petroleum Institute (API) at its facility in Ras Laffan. A ceremony was held during the visit, during which N-KOM’s ceo Abu Bakar Mohd Nor received the certificates on behalf of the company from API’s vice president and cfo John Robertson. The shipyard has been certified by the institute for API-Q1 (8th edition), API-2B, API-4F, ISO/TS 29001 and ISO 9001, with further certifications planned for the future as part of N-KOM’s efforts to expand its suite of services to the oil and gas industry.
“With this certification, N-KOM will be able to further effectively service the needs of the nation’s oil and gas industry,” said Bakar.
N-KOM’s chairman Muhammad Ghannam commented: “N-KOM’s API certification marks yet another critical milestone in the development of Qatar’s marine industrial sector. Expanding beyond its capabilities in the offshore industry, N-KOM is now Qatar’s premier builder, repairer and convertor of land rigs.”
API is a national trade association that represents all segments of America’s technology-driven oil and natural gas industry. [25/03/13]
