Nils Andersen has wasted little time picking up juicy appointments since his shock departure from the Maersk Group this summer.
Andersen has joined energy giant BP as a non-executive director. As well as serving the board, he has been appointed to BP’s audit committee.
Prior to heading up A.P. Møller – Mærsk Andersen had previously been president and CEO of Danish brewing firm Carlsberg.
Carl-Henric Svanberg, chairman of BP, said: “Nils brings broad experience from the energy, shipping and consumer goods industries. His depth of knowledge and insight from his long career will bring an added perspective to the work of the board.”
Other positions held by Andersen today include a non-exec directorship at Unilever. He is also chairman of Dansk Supermarked Group.
Søren Skou replaced Andersen as the CEO of AP Møller – Mærsk on July 1, ahead of the group’s momentous announcement it would split in two. Transport and logistics will form one new group and energy the other.
