Nisshin Shipping buying 7 resale bulkers from Chinese yards

Dalian: Taking advantage of the depressed market once again Japanese shipowner Nisshin Shipping is in the process of buying up to seven resale kamsarmax bulkers from two Chinese shipyards.

The company is going to buy two 82,000dwt bulkers from Guangzhou Longxue Shipbuilding and five bulkers of the same type from Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. The price for each vessel is around $23m.

Currently Nisshin Shipping operates a fleet of more than 30 bulkers and tankers. In November it acquired three resale bulkers which were originally ordered by Taiwan owner TMT from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries in Korea for around $25m per vessel.  [25/12/12]
