Saipem secures TAP contract

Saipem has been awarded a contract by Trans Atlantic Pipeline (TAP) for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) for the offshore section of the project.

The pipeline is planned to start delivering gas from the Shah Deniz gas project offshore Azerbaijan in 2019. TAP will connect to the Trans-Anatolian natural gas project running through Turkey to the Greek border.

Saipem will deploy semi-submersible pipelay vessel Castoro Sei and the trench/pipelay barge Castoro 10 for the work, which is scheduled to commence this year.

“While offshore construction raises specific challenges, Saipem’s robust technical bid, strong safety track record and experienced team of specialists reassure us that works will be executed to the highest standards and industry best practice,” said Ian Bradshaw, the managing director of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline consortium.
