Seadrill semi-sub finds more work off Canada

Seadrill Partners, the limited liability company part of John Fredriksen’s Seadrill, has been awarded a new contract by Seadrill Canada for semi-submersible rig West Aquarius.

The two well contract, with a two well option, will see the rig operating off Canada from the second quarter of 2017.

Seadrill says the contract is worth around $14 million based on the firm contract period which is estimated at around 70 days, indicating a day rate of $200,000. It will also provide fuel and additional services at a fixed rate.

West Aquarius is coming off a contract in April at ExxonMobil’s Hibernia project off Canada where it was earning $615,000 per day.
