Sinokor acquires VLCC from JX Ocean

South Korean owner Sinokor Merchant Marine has acquired 298,400dwt VLCC Nichinori from Japan’s JX Ocean according to VesselsValue.

The portal reveals that Sinokor Merchant Marine has paid $21m for the 2002-built vessel, substantially less than the $30m the company paid to Greece’s Enesel for 2004-built VLCC Irene SL in May.

Sinokor currently operates a fleet of 161 vessels including 76 tankers.

JX Ocean is also consolidating its fleet, having sold three 2002-built vessels including two tankers and one bulker this year.
