Ships told to avoid Benghazi and reroute to Tobruk or risk being bombed

Cairo: Libyan authorities have banned any ships calling at Benghazi port and told shipping lines to reroute to Tobruk. The move comes as authorities are concerned by the huge volume of weapons being smuggled through Benghazi.

Moreover, today armed forces have said any ships trying to call at Benghazi will be targeted and bombed by airforce planes.

Libya has made similar threats to commercial ships calling to the country earlier in the year.  [12/08/14]
