Singapore: LiqTech Pte Ltd has been given funding from Singapore’s Maritime & Port Authority to develop a ballast water treatment system (BWTS) that is different to anything on this increasingly crowded market place today.
The treatment system uses a proprietary silicon carbide (SiC) membrane to filter ballast water, preventing the spread of aquatic organisms from one region to another.
"We see a great potential for SiC membranes to provide a high filtration performance not seen in the marketplace today," said LiqTech Pte General Manager Kum Leong Lee.
"Filtration units based on SiC membranes will deliver optimal operating conditions for any disinfection technology to complete a BWTS." [14/11/12]
