LOC plans further SE Asian expansion

Singapore: Blink and you miss it. London Offshore Consultants (LOC) stunningly fast build up of offices around the world is set to continue.

This year has already seen a new Vietnam office, its Hong Kong office doubling in size and a merger in Dubai bolstering its strong position in the Middle East. However, the independent marine and engineering consultancy and survey organisation is by no means finished in its global push.

Nick Haslam, managing director of LOC’s Singapore office, told SeaShip News that plans are to double its current 24 offices around the world in the coming five years.

“The last five years we have had quite spectacular growth,” Haslam said.

He said the next office opening would be in Indonesia. Malaysia will then follow, a place 1979-founded LOC has had a jv in the past, but now “we want to re-establish ourselves there,” Haslam said.

The rationale for these two new Southeast Asian offices is simple. “To get independent licences from Pertamina and Petronas you need to have companies registered in the country,” Haslam explained.  [12/04/13]
