Hanoi urged to help local owners

Hanoi: With most Vietnamese shipowners struggling to make a profit, solutions are being sought. The Ministry of Transport has held a meeting with local owners this week where a variety of issues were discussed.

One idea touted was for the government to institute a floor to freight rates to ensure that the severe competition for business did not see unprofitable routes emerge. The floor price regulation will be submitted to the National Assembly Steering Committee for approval.  [07/08/14]
