Ancora Investment exits suezmax sector

Greek owner Ancora Investment Trust is exiting the suezmax tanker segment, selling its last suezmax at the second attempt, brokers sell Splash. The 15-year-old, Korean-built 159,000 dwt Mabrouk has fetched $14m from one of Southeast Asia’s most active buyers of vintage tankers, Indonesian owner Waruna. The purchase marks an entry into the suezmax segment for Waruna.

The Mabrouk was reported sold for the same price back in February, when Ancora also sold the one year younger 166,000 dwt Marika to Greek vintage specialist Avin International. This latest sale leaves Ancora with 12 MR tankers in its fleet, according to data VesselsValue has on the outfit.
