Atlantska Plovidba adds to ultramax orderbook in China

Croatian bulker owner and operator Atlantska Plovidba has added another ultramax newbuild to its orderbook in China.

The Dubrovnik-based outfit, majority owned by compatriot Tankerska Plovidba from Zadar, said in a Zagreb stock exchange filing it had lifted an option at Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry for an additional vessel following a $65m deal for a pair of 63,500 dwt bulkers earlier this year.

Atlantska is paying around $32.5m to see the latest newbuild, designed to meet IMO Tier III and EEDI Phase 3 requirements, delivered in 2027, while the first two ultramaxes are due in 2026.

The company, which currently manages a fleet of 11 bulkers, also ordered four kamsarmaxes at Jiangsu Hantong in 2021.
