CBED expands fleet with Vroon SOV pair

Danish offshore accommodation specialist CBED, part of Maonjasa Holding, has bolstered its fleet with the acquisition of two service operational vessels from Dutch shipowner Vroon.

The 2017-built and UK-flagged SOVs Vos Start and Vos Stone have been picked up for an undisclosed sum and will be renamed Wind Evolution and Wind Creation, respectively. The ships will be delivered by the end of the first quarter of 2024 and prepped for service by the second quarter of the same year.

CBED has since 2008 worked on more than 30 offshore wind projects in Northern Europe and earlier this year secured a fixture for its 1999-built Wind Innovation on Ørsted’s Gode Wind 3 and Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farms from the first quarter of 2024. The latest fleet development comes on the back of ever-increasing demand and a tight market for specialised offshore tonnage.

“We have been looking for the right opportunity to expand our fleet for a long time, so we are very pleased to have sealed the deal on these two very modern sister vessels,” said Daniel Alon, general manager at CBED, adding: “We see a very strong market now, and looking ahead, there will be an even higher demand for high-quality, purpose-built SOVs like Wind Evolution, Wind Creation and of course our existing Wind Innovation. Adding these two SOVs to our fleet brings new opportunities for CBED to take in more projects – also across the oil and gas sector, where we have previous experience too.”
