Clipper sells handy to new Turkish owner

Clipper Group has sold a handy bulker to Turkey’s ZBB Bulkers. Little is known about ZBB Bulkers, a company with no track record in shipowning.

The bulker outfit is based in Istanbul, according to its website which is still under construction, while some of its staff have been with the company for a little over a year. The company has tabled just under $11m for the 12-year-old, 37,000 dwt, Huatai Heavy-built bulker Clipper Cosmo. The ship has been renamed ZBB Serenity and has already been delivered to its new owner.

This is the second sale by Clipper this year, while it also has found time to buy a Yangzhou Dayang Shipbuilding-built ultramax from UK-based marine asset manager firm Marine Capital, the 2014-built 63,200 dwt, Cape Cross.

The latest deal leaves Clipper with five bulkers in the same segment, all Chinese-built tonnage with an average age of 12 years.
