Economou seals first newcastlemax deal of the year

Greek shipping mogul George Economou has added more dry bulk tonnage. The 15-year-old Japanese-controlled newcastlemax Baosteel Elevation fetched around $19m, the first confirmed sale of such a large bulk carrier this year.

The last sale in this segment was concluded at the end of December with Singapore-headquartered Winning paying around $3m for a larger newcastlemax.
