Evalend Shipping doubles up on LNG carrier orders

Greece’s Evalend Shipping has doubled its orderbook of liquified natural gas carriers with two more units at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea.

UK shipbroking giant Clarksons has named the Kriton Lendoudis-led diversified owner behind the $530m deal for 174,000 cu m ships expected to deliver in 2027 and 2028.

The Athens-based company marked its move into LNG trades with the first two vessels ordered at the same shipyard in Ulsan earlier this year for delivery in the second half of 2027. The first pair came at $260m each.

Shipbuilding databases list Evalend with 23 newbuilds, the majority of which are energy carrier vessels set to join the fleet of over 50 ships, with more than 60% being bulk carriers.
