Final speaker line-up cements Geneva Dry’s position as a must-attend on the maritime calendar

The one-month countdown until the inaugural Geneva Dry is on with organisers today unveiling the final full line-up of speakers and revealing some of the very high-profile delegate sign-ups as well.

Taking place on May 2 and 3 at the President Wilson Hotel on the shore of Lake Geneva, the event has been designed to be the annual global summit for the dry bulk shipping community, the largest segment in commercial shipping.

Geneva Dry now boasts an extraordinary mix of shipowners, trading companies, miners and tech providers, with more than 200 companies attending.

The event will start with an opening address from Florence Schurch, the secretary-general of SUISSENÉGOCE, a powerful association representing companies active in commodity trading and shipping activities, trade finance and related services.

Among the sessions organisers are most excited about is the Economic And Commodities Outlook that opens Day Two. Panellists for this high-level scene-setter include Christopher Rex, head of sustainability and research at Danish Ship Finance, Roar Adland, SSY’s global head of research, Saad Rahim, chief economist at Trafigura and Shamika Sirimanne, director division on technology and logistics at UNCTAD.

Other high-profile recently recruited speakers include Hamish Norton, the president of NASDAQ-listed Star Bulk Carriers Corp, who will be sat on stage alongside AJ Rahman, the chairman of Norvic Shipping, Peter Weernink, chairman of SwissMarine and Steve Kunzer, CEO of Lila Global in what promises to be a heavyweight discussion on the future of the coal trades.

Commented Grant Rowles, co-founder of Geneva Dry, “We’ve had a year to put this event together, and no day has been wasted. The speaker line-up is testament to our ambition to make Geneva Dry an essential date on the maritime calendar.”

Geneva Dry brings together all elements of the commodities shipping sector. Other sessions include minor bulks, agri-commodities, iron ore, decarbonisation as well as an entire afternoon spent discussing digital.
