Hellenic Tankers adds two more

Brokers tells Splash that Greek tanker specialist has bolstered its VLCC fleet, adding the VLCC Nichioh from Japan’s JX Ocean for $23m, a significant move for the relatively fresh VLCC player.

MSI has a fair market value on the tanker of $28.6m and projects it to rise.

Hellenic Tankers entered the VLCC arena last December. In May it bought the Takamine VLCC from Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK).

The Greek owner has also just bought the aframax River Eternity from another Japanese line, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line), the fifth ship Hellenic Tankers has added this year.

The fleet of the Andreas Hadjiyiannis-led firm now totals 16 tankers.
