Holger Clasen: Making a spark in Hamburg

Hamburg: Hoping to make a splash in its home town at this year’s mega shipping show, SMM, is Holger Clasen, an industrial tool manufacturer.
Lennart Clasen, the boss of the firm, says its new MAG-9000 tool could be a smash hit.
Grinding, brushing and scrubbing work in shipbuilding and shipping is associated with heavy physical strain for the person doing the work. Efficient work is therefore possible only with ergonomic, powerful tools. At SMM, Holger Clasen will present the MAG-9000 brushing tool, as well as powerful angle grinders and various tools for corrosion protection such as rust removal machines and needle scalers
“Our brushing tool MAG-9000 is very compact in build and extremely light weight in comparison to other devices in the same power range,” says Clasen, the managing director, “making it most efficient and extremely ergonomical to handle. Working with MAG-9000 results in a noticeably lower risk of injuries and illnesses caused by overexertion.”
The company has a raft of maritime products. In terms of new stuff, its latest R&D projects which have just gone into serial production are two powerful angle grinders with suction hoods – GW160/120-A and GW210/85-A. Both devices allow the use of serrated lock washers and fiber grinding discs as well as scrubbing discs and circular saws. Their functionalities are especially targeted at the shipbuilding industry giving the user the flexibility to withdraw abrasive dust by suction no matter how remote or inaccessible the surface he is treating is.
“Generally our strategy is to continually diversify our existing product groups and in close contact to the relevant markets widen the range of accessories even further in order to make working with our tools as efficient and ergonomic as possible,” Clasen says. [18/08/14]
