James Lightbourn joins Sterling Shipping as partner 

Christopher Fjeld-led bulker play Sterling Shipping has welcomed James Lightbourn as a partner and chief financial officer. 

Most recently Lightbourn advised on capital raises and strategies as an investment banker at Arctic Securities, where he worked with transportation companies including Sterling.In his new role, he will focus on bolstering Sterling’s capital base, growing its fleet, and diversifying into additional shipping sectors. The company today owns a fleet of four kamsarmaxes. 

“James has played an integral role in supporting Sterling from its very first days and I can think of no one better to partner with to take the company to the next level,” said Fjeld, founder and CEO of Sterling Shipping.

Starting out with the Informa Group in 2000 in Hong Kong, Sam Chambers became editor of Maritime Asia magazine as well as East Asia Editor for the world’s oldest newspaper, Lloyd’s List. In 2005 he pursued a freelance career and wrote for a variety of titles including taking on the role of Asia Editor at Seatrade magazine and China correspondent for Supply Chain Asia. His work has also appeared in The Economist, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and The International Herald Tribune.
