Keppel Singmarine signs S$65m deals

Singapore: Shipbuilder Keppel Singmarine has won two new contracts, worth a combined S$65m ($48.7m), from Singapore-based Seaways International and Qatar’s Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine.

Seaways International has ordered its fifth multi-task anchor-handling tug (AHT) from the Singapore-based yard. The vessel will be delivered in the second quarter of 2016.

The Robert Allan-designed AHT will have a designed bollard pull of 100 tonnes, and will be equipped with Class 1 and 2 firefighting capabilities, dynamic positioning systems Class 2, oil recovery Class I capabilities and a host of other equipment, according to Keppel Offshore & Marine (O&M), the shipyard’s parent company.

Separately, Keppel Singmarine will provide technical services for the construction of a liftboat at Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine (N-KOM), a joint-venture shipyard in Qatar between Qatari gas shipper Nakilat and Keppel O&M.

The work will comprise detail and production engineering, technical and commissioning support and procurement support, and is Keppel Singmarine’s first such project for a liftboat.

The liftboat has been designed by Bennett Offshore, a naval architecture and marine engineering arm of Keppel O&M, in collaboration with N-KOM. [06/01/15]
