Maritime CEO Forum: The big picture for VLCCs

Watch below as Svein Moxnes Harfield, co-CEO of VLCC giant DHT Holdings, discusses why the VLCC sector is poised for a strong period of growth.

Speaking at the Maritime CEO Forum held at the Monaco Yacht Club last week, Harfield was joined on stage by V.Group’s Graham Westgarth, Emanuele Lauro, the CEO of Scorpio Group and M Sea Capital’s Modi Mano for a high calibre tanker panel

Harfield told the exclusive shipowner gathering that it was “dangerous” to focus on micro events such as scrubber installations. It was far more important to focus on the bigger picture where demand is solid and fleet growth is minimal, Harfield said. Also, he pointed out how growth in oil supply is in the Atlantic and demand growth is in Asia, creating a longer ton mile scenario.

A full report from the tanker session at the Maritime CEO Forum in Monaco will appear in the next issue of Maritime CEO magazine. The next forum is to be held in Hong Kong on November 18.

The Maritime CEO Forum in Monaco was sponsored by Arrow Shipbroking, Cambridge Academy of Transport, C Transport Maritime, Dualog, Liberian Registry, Lloyd’s Register, Marlink, PwC, and SeaQuest.
