Rovco expands survey vessel fleet with another Glomar charter deal

UK offshore contractor Rovco has strengthened its site characterisation business in a long-term charter deal with Dutch vessel operator Glomar Offshore.

The 2008-built Glomar Worker has been hired for four years as the company experiences increased demand for “innovative geophysical and geotechnical survey solutions”.

The vessel will be converted to a dedicated geophysical survey asset to serve the offshore wind market, adding to the already contracted Glomar Supporter Rovco chartered in from Glomar last year.

Both vessels have permanently mobilised work-class remotely operated vehicles, enabling the completion of survey and inspection tasks in field, without returning to port or needing additional vessels in field, Rovco said.

Commenting on bolstering its survey fleet capacity, Craig Davis, director of site characterisation at Rovco, said: “By bringing the Glomar Worker into the fleet, we’re now able to provide our clients with increased surety in availability, force multiplication to complete projects more quickly and, importantly, offer a consistency in data collection and reporting.”
