Seaway 7 clinches second contract in Polish offshore wind sector

Seaway 7, has been awarded a new offshore wind contract in Poland. The renewables unit of Oslo-listed Subsea 7 has been selected by PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted to transport and install substations for the Baltica 2 wind farm in the Polish sector of the Baltic Sea.

The work scope, worth between $50m and $150m includes four substations with the offshore campaign set to take place in 2026 utilising both of the company’s heavylift vessels.

Located around 40 km from shore at its closest point, The 1.5 GW Baltica 2 is a 50:50 joint venture between PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna and Ørsted. The financial close of the project is expected in 2024.

This will be Seaway 7’s second contract in the Polish offshore wind sector following the company’s award from Equinor and partner Polenergia to install inter-array cables at MFW Bałtyk II and MFW Bałtyk III bottom-fixed offshore wind projects, in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea.
