Stena Drilling wins semisub contract with Ithaca

Stena Drilling has won a new contract for the 1983-built semisub rig Stena Spey.

The Aberdeen-based driller has fixed the unit to Ithaca Energy for one firm well campaign in UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

The UK-flagged rig, which is currently warm-stacked, is expected to start operations between June and September this year.

In January a subsidiary of Sweden’s Stena landed a contract with Shell for the 2009-built sixth-generation dual-activity harsh environment drillship Stena Forth to carry out a three-well project offshore Egypt.
