Bangkok: Thai shipowner Thoresen Thai Agencies announced that it has acquired a 9% equity stake in Sino Grandness Food Industry Group, a Chinese canned food manufacuturer, for $18.35m via its investment arm Soleado Holding.

After the transaction, Thoresen Thai has become the largest single shareholder of Sino Grandness.

“In 2014 we made significant strides forwards in honing our vision and strategy and building upon our existing portfolio of bulk shipping, energy and infrastructure businesses,” said Chalermchai Mahagitsiri, president and ceo of Thoresen Thai Agencies.

“In line with this strategy, we will continue to drive organic growth, as demonstrated in 2014, while also seeking out other new investment opportunities that are aligned with our vision for the group’s future,” he added. [06/01/15]
