Tristar confirms orders for six product tankers at Hyundai Mipo

UAE-based petroleum and chemical shipping and logistics firm Tristar Group has confirmed orders for six newbuild 25,000 dwt product tankers at South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard.

The deal, first reported by Splash in January, will see the vessels go on long-term contracts with Shell.

Last August, Tristar agreed to acquire Shell’s chemical terminal in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, and the deal saw Shell become a customer of Tristar at the terminal.

The six vessels ordered are scheduled for delivery between May 2020 and January 2021.

Tristar currently owns and operates 26 chemical, oil and gas tankers globally.
