250 days to go: Geneva Dry by numbers

Tomorrow marks 250 days to go until the inaugural Geneva Dry, the global dry bulk summit linking every rung in the commodities supply chain.

The numbers speak for themselves in terms of how the dry bulk community has lapped up this unique event: 29 confirmed speakers, 22 sponsors, dozens of paid delegates, not forgetting one official gin – all still with 250 days to go.

Commented Grant Rowles, the event’s commercial director, “The response has been simply staggering. What we have seen is that the dry bulk community has clearly been crying out for one single, global annual event where they can all get together. We’ve had to drastically revise upwards the scale of Geneva Dry, which is a nice problem to have.”

Taking place on May 2 and 3 next year at the Hotel President Wilson on the shore of Lake Geneva, the high-level summit is split into relevant sectors to make delegates time more targeted and rewarding. Panels will bring together analysts, miners, traders and shipowners to discuss where the markets are headed.

Sessions include minor bulks, agri-commodities, coal, iron ore, and decarbonisation.

Designed to bring every segment of the dry bulk supply chain under one roof to hammer out deals and seek collaborative solutions for the sector, a host of commodity giants and top shipowners have agreed to speak at the Swiss event.

Senior executives from commodity powerhouses and top shipowners have committed to the show from the likes of Amaggi, Cargill, Cetus Maritime, CMB, CTM, Grindrod Shipping, Holcim Trading, JP Morgan, Lauritzen Bulkers, Lila Global, Mandarin Shipping, Montfort Trading, Pacific Basin Shipping, SwissMarine, Taylor Maritime, Trafigura and Wah Kwong Maritime. Further top speakers will be unveiled shortly with organisers advising potential delegates today to book accommodation soon. Special Hotel President Wilson discounts are available for Geneva Dry delegates.

“The aim of becoming the world’s premier commodities shipping conference has taken shape quicker than we could imagine,” said V. Subramanian (Subra), Geneva Dry’s event director.
