Diana sells majority stake in ultramax to Norwegian player

New York-listed Greek bulker owner Diana Shipping has sold 75% of the 2016-built ultramax DSI Drammen acquired in February this year to an unnamed Norwegian entity and also secured a new fixture for one of its ships.

The Semiramis Paliou-led firm, which bought the 63,379 dwt scrubber-fitted vessel from Norden for nearly $28m, will keep a 25% stake in the joint venture. Financial details for the ship, estimated to be worth around $31.6m have not been disclosed.

The vessel is currently fixed to Singapore-based IMC Shipping for around one year at $18,250 per day, with options to extend up to June 10, 2024. It should earn around $6.5m from the charter, excluding options.

In addition, the Athens-based Diana secured work for its 2007-built capesize Boston with Glencore’s Singapore-based ST Shipping and Transport. The charter is effective from May 6 until June 15, 2024, at $17,000 per day, with options until October 15 of the same year. Diana should bank close to $7.3m from the minimum scheduled period of the charter.
