Imoto Lines moves for three resales

Japanese domestic liner Imoto Lines has moved to acquire three resales. Alphaliner reports Imoto has taken three 1,096 teu ships being built by Japan’s Kyokuyo shipyard, which had been ordered originally by China’s StarOcean Marine. Imoto is reported to be paying $26m per ship for the resales.

All ships deliver this year and will stand out when they join the Imoto fleet. Imoto tends to operate smaller ships, ranging in size from 88 to 670 teu.

Imoto Lines is Japan’s largest domestic feeder operator, in which Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) is a key shareholder.
