Lauritzen sells handy

Scrubber-fitted handysizes changing hands are relatively rare. Nevertheless, Lauritzen Bulkers has managed to sell a second such ship in the space of a month.

Brokers tell Splash that the giant Dane is trying to exploit the strong upward pressure on asset values, selling the six-year-old, 36,200 dwt Asian Bulker for some $24m, the same price as it was noted selling a sistership named Australian Bulker at the end of last month, likely earning a couple of million on each deal.

The handysize player added the two Shikoku Dockyard-built ships last August, after which prices for all dry bulk classes have shot up.
